Caught off guard at the EOFY party? Let’s make sure that’s not you.

As EOFY parties kick off, it’s the perfect time to celebrate, connect and unwind, but also to remember that workplace standards don’t clock off just because the music’s playing and the drinks are flowing.

Here’s how to enjoy yourself without becoming HR’s Monday morning story:

1. Know your limits with alcohol

Drink in moderation, stay hydrated, and make sure you’ve eaten. Being “the life of the party” shouldn’t mean a call from your manager the next day.

2. Read the room

Not sure if a joke or comment will land well? Don’t say it. Respecting personal boundaries -especially in a relaxed setting is key to a positive experience for everyone.

3. Illegal substances are never OK

No matter the setting, drugs have no place at a work-related event. The consequences aren’t worth the risk.

4. Sort your ride home

Plan ahead. If you’re drinking, don’t drive. Simple.

5. Bad behaviour isn’t excused by "It was just a party"

Bullying, harassment, or inappropriate conduct, sexual or otherwise, is still workplace misconduct, even after hours. And yes, it can absolutely lead to disciplinary action.

Celebrate Smart EOFY events are a great way to end the financial year on a high note. Let’s keep them safe, respectful, and drama-free for everyone.

Not sure where the line is - or worried your team might cross it?

I work with businesses to set clear expectations, update policies, and support managers before (and sometimes after) things go off track.

📩 Get in touch if you need HR support before your next event - or if something’s already happened and you’re not sure what to do next.

Let’s make sure the only surprises are raffle prizes. 😉
